Jess

Jess is 17 years old and has been playing bass for 7 years. Her journey started when she was 6 years old, learning guitar, and has continued since. She draws inspiration from bands like Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains, which have greatly influenced her approach to playing.

Her favourite song to play live is Money for Nothing because of its iconic intro and the fun vocal parts. One of her favourite things about being in the band is how it feels to have another family. Whether they’re on stage, at practice, or school, they’re always having fun together. A highlight was the sold-out Automatic 80s show at Paraoa Brewing Co., where she was thrilled to see over 450 people dancing and singing along.

Her gear setup includes an LTD by ESP bass, a Boss ME-50B pedal, and a Promethean amp. A fun fact about her gear is that she’s been using the same pink neon Ernie Ball lead for 5 years, and it’s still holding up strong. Outside of music, Jess enjoys watching The Rookie.

Her dream gig would be a huge show at either Eden Park or Mount Smart with Foo Fighters or Pearl Jam, but she also thinks a smaller venue like Whisky a Go Go would be incredible.
